Guidelines
For Enrollment In The Northmont High School NJRO=
TC
Program
In accordance with the Navy instruction governing
the Navy Junior Recruit Officer Training Corp (NJROTC), CNET Instruction
1533.9, all cadets must meet the minimum standards in order to
participate in the program. T=
hose
minimum standards are as follows:
a.
Be enrolled in and attending a regular course of instruction at the
school hosting the unit, in a grade 9 through 12.
b.
Be a U.S. citizen or national or alien lawfully admitted to the U.S.
for permanent residence.
c.
Be selected by the NJROTC instructor with the approval of the school
principal or his/her representative.
d.
Comply with the personal grooming standards as set forth in the
“NJROTC Cadet Field Manual,” NAVEDTRA 37116 series. Common sense and good judgment sho=
uld be
used to attain these standards.
Standards will not be relaxed as to reflect discredit on the Naval service.
e.
Be physically qualified to participate fully in the physical educat=
ion
program in the school. This
includes maintaining a current physical and screening form, authorizing
participation in physical training.
f.
Maintain acceptable standards of conduct, including being free from=
any
suspension or expulsion.
g.
Maintain acceptable standards of academic achievement and academic
standing that warrants at least normal progression leading to graduation.
Any cadet in violation of the above guidelines is
subject to disciplinary action. The
Naval Science Instructor (NSI) is authorized to place on probation, =
with
the approval of the principal, any NJROTC cadet who has academic deficienci=
es,
fails to maintain standards of grooming or wearing of the uniform, or whose
conduct is prejudicial to the program, provided the NSI considers the
difficulty to be a single laps of judgment and the cadet has the potential =
and
motivation to be successful as an NJROTC cadet. Cadets placed on probation shall be
notified in writing, a copy of which will be sent to the parent(s).
Furthermore, a cadet may be disenrolled
by the NJROTC instructor, with the approval of the principal, for any of the
following reasons:
a.
Failure to maintain the standards required for enrollment.
b.
Lack of aptitude, indifference to training, disciplinary reasons, or
undesirable traits of character.
c.
Failure to meet the terms of probation or to correct the deficiency=
for
which placed in a probationary status.
d.
Disenrollment from the school.
e.
Request of the individual student per Northmont student disenrollment instructions.

Also, there are two events during the scho=
ol
year each cadet is required to attend.&nbs=
p;
First is the Annual Military Inspection (AMI) which takes place duri=
ng
school hours. Secondly, the A=
ward’s
Ceremony near the end of the school year, which is an after school event,
conducted in the evening. The=
se
events are mandatory.
Student grades will reflect their participation. Any cadet failing to attend these =
events
can be put on probation.
These guidelines and disciplinary procedures are=
put
in place to ensure the unit and program maintains the highest degree of
professionalism and moral standards for the betterment of the cadets. This is in addition to positively
representing the United States Navy and Northmont High School.
